Prof Michael Lapidge FBA
Emeritus Elrington and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon, University of Cambridge
Michael Lapidge FBA is Emeritus Elrington and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon at the University of Cambridge (1991–1999), Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge, and former Notre Dame Professor of English. He is an internationally renowned scholar of Anglo-Latin literature, Insular palaeography, textual transmission, and Old English poetry.
He has authored, edited, and translated dozens of foundational volumes, including the Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopaedia of Anglo-Saxon England, Anglo-Saxon Litanies of the Saints, and critical editions of Aldhelm, Bede, and Byrhtferth.
